- Travel to Ho Chi Minh City
1.1. International Access
Ho Chi Minh City is the primary international gateway to Vietnam:
- Tan Son Nhat International Airport (SGN): Located within the city, it is the nation’s busiest airport with direct connections to major global hubs, particularly in Asia, Europe, and Australia.
- Long Thanh International Airport: Currently under construction and projected to begin operations in 2026, this will eventually become the region’s largest aviation hub.
1.2. Local Transportation
Once in the city, you have several reliable options for getting around:
- Ride-Hailing (Highly Recommended): Applications such as Grab and Xanh SM (electric taxis) are widely used. They offer transparent pricing and “cashless” payment options, making them the most convenient choice for international visitors.
- Metro & Bus: The newly launched Metro Line 1 and the city’s extensive bus network provide affordable transit between major districts, accommodation hubs, conference venue and the ITB Main Campus.
- Traditional Taxis: Reliable brands include Vinasun and Mai Linh. Ensure the meter is turned on upon entry.
Getting to the Venue
The conference venue is approximately 5.6 km from Tan Son Nhat International Airport. A taxi or ride-hailing trip typically takes 30–45 minutes, depending on traffic conditions. Additionally, the venue is conveniently located just a 10-minute ride from Ben Thanh Market, the vibrant heart of District 1.

2.1. Ride-Hailing & Taxi Guide: For a smooth arrival at Tan Son Nhat International Airport, we recommend the following options to reach the venue or your hotel:
- Ride-Hailing Apps (Recommended): Download Grab or Xanh SM (electric taxi) from the App Store or Google Play.
- How to book: Use the free airport Wi-Fi to book your ride.
- Pick-up point: Follow the signs to the “Ride-hailing pick-up area” (usually located at Lane B or C for international arrivals, or the 2nd floor of the parking garage).
- Cost: Approximately VND 120,000 – 180,000 (USD 5–8), including the airport exit fee.
- Traditional Taxis: Look for the official taxi stands outside the terminal. We highly recommend using reliable brands: Vinasun (white) or Mai Linh (green).
- Tip: Always ensure the meter is turned on or agree on a fixed price before starting the trip.
- Airport Bus (Line 109): For a budget-friendly option, the bright yellow Bus 109 runs directly from the airport to the city center (near Ben Thanh Market) every 20–30 minutes.
